Everyday Hygiene and Personal Care When Wearing a Chastity Device Long Term:

One of the best tips to help keep you and your chastity device nice and clean and fresh is to shower daily with plenty of soapy water. This doesn’t mean you need to remove the device every day. Using a cleansing swab with a drop of antibacterial liquid soap to get inside your device helps hygiene and reduces the build up of unhealthy bacteria and unpleasant odours. Ensure you wash off all soap residue to help prevent irritation. After washing you can gently pat around your self with a soft towel and allow everything to dry before dressing (some men use a hair dryer on a very cool setting to aid drying). As a alternative to showering a Wash Bottle with a fine jet spray is absolutely perfect.

If you use a lubricant each day inside you tube, daily cleansing is an ideal opportunity to remove this. Some lubricants particularly those that are oil based such as Baby Oil can cause a build up of bacteria. Regularly washing off then reapplying with a Q Tip, cotton bud, or cleansing swab will help keep bacteria to a minimum.

Weekly Cleaning of Your Chastity Device:

In addition to your personal daily hygiene routine, you should remove your chastity device (under supervision of course!) on a weekly basis to give it a good clean. Start by washing it throughly using anti-bacterial soap, and allow it to dry. Then finish off with a spray or two of a high quality cleaner such as Eros Cleaner, this gives the finishing touch to your hygiene routine. Such cleaners have antimicrobial action to combat bacteria, viruses and fungus build up, and are a good disinfectant – but check the label of your sex toy cleaner to make sure it is up to this high standard of cleanliness. We give free samples of Eros Cleaner with most chastity devices we sell.

Weekly Through Cleaning and Inspection:

Weekly removal of your chastity device for cleaning provides the ideal opportunity for you to tend to your own personal care. During these weekly sessions you should attentively inspect your cock and balls, if you notice any sores or irritation you will need to refrain from wearing your belt or device until healing has taken place. Sometimes using a cream such as E45 or Nivea can help keep your skin where the cock ring sits all nice and smooth.

Choice of Chastity Device:

Some devices are better designed for hygiene than others. Some allow for better cleaning of your body without removal of the device, others allow for plenty of natural air flow. All these are important considerations to bear in mind when buying for device.

Personal Hygiene:

You need to ensure that the device you choose allows for good hygiene. Devices which are completely open at the end offer the absolute best option, keeping the head of the penis in a good flow of air, and easy to clean. Open tubes allow for a good, more or less uninterrupted, flow of urine and so have far less build up of bacteria that closed or partially closed devices have. Closed or partially closed tubes can allow for small drops of urine to deposit and gather, and so particular attention to hygiene is essential. Unless used for a play session avoid devices that are absolutely enclosed at the end, there are a few such devices on the market that are closed and have no drainage hole, some men enjoy these for occasional play sessions because they deny any touch to the penis, however they can only be considered as very short term wear.

Completely Open End:
These devices offer the best for natural air flow, urination and accessibility for hygiene whilst wearing the device. Included within this range is the Cerberus Open, the 2(d)Ni and the Houdini

Cage Constructed of Bars
An alternative to the above and just as good are devices such as the steel Twister and the polycarbonate CB-2000 which encase the penis in a cage of bars allowing for lots of natural ventilation. This type of design helps to prevent a build up of bacteria, and ensures good hygiene can be followed.

Partially Closed Design:
Within this group are devices such as the CB-3000, CB-6000, BuddyLock and the Rondo. These devices have a tube completely encasing the penis with slots or holes for urination, and require good regular hygiene routines to keep bacteria, the build up of odour and the possibility of fungal infections at bay.

Completely Closed:
The Cerberus Closed model, is just that – CLOSED. Any device similar in design is perfect for Chastity Play, a short chastity role play enactment, as it ensures your cock is completely denied any stimulation. But such designs need to be removed for urination.

Cleaning the Chastity Device:

Equally important as personal hygiene is attention to the cleanliness of your chastity device. It needs to be removed regularly, inspected and throughly cleaned, keeping you and your device in peak condition, an asset to any keyholder!

Chastity devices made of medical grade 316 stainless steel are the most hygienic as they can be boiled completely clean to remove any build up of bacteria. Devices made of polycarbonate tend to build up a particular odour if worn for several days at a time, regular removal and through cleaning with anti bacterial soap helps keep this unpleasant smell to a minimum.
