Turbo 8 High Security handcuffs are rigid and heavy, they are suitable for both conventional use and 'stacking'. They have a smooth highly-polished finish, and rounded edges to keep the wearer secure and lets them know they've been cuffed.
The bows of the cuff swing in and overlap to lock in the centre, and are released by a yale-type lock which is accessed from underneath the central block. It has a width of 2cm and well rounded edges which makes it very comfortable to wear, and the distance between the cuffs (about 3 cm) offers medium close wrist restraint.
The overlapping design of this cuff was taken from a design by U.S Army Sergeant Lilly, who developed it during the U.S. civil war. It has been further developed to incorporate a modern tumbler lock to create the handcuffs you see here.
