Irish 8 Handcuffs with Swivel Link

Irish 8 Handcuffs with a design twist. These are a swivel version of the rigid Irish 8 handcuff. Beautifully finished and hand-crafted, they are easy to fit and have a very broad cuff. The swivel allows some distance between the cuffs, while the smooth highly polished finish makes them comfortable to wear.

They are solidly built and have a 'shim' type key to release the locks (there is a lock on each cuff). Because of the fixed design they cannot be overtightened.

The original Irish '8' style of handcuff was first developed in England by 2 Birmingham companies; "Frogatt" and the well known "Hiatt". As the name suggests these cuffs originally resembled the figure 8 and originally were used widely in Ireland. This is a split version of that original cuff which allows for a little more freedom of movement.

The design is quite different to the usual style of handcuff. The Irish 8 is a little heavier than the more common police handcuffs, they are wider, and feel more significant to wear.
